Jamshoro District

Jamshoro District (Sindhiڄام شورو), (Urduضِلع جامشورو‎), is a district of Sindh province, PakistanJamshoro city is the capital of Jamshoro District.
Jamshoro district was bifurcated in the month of December 2004 from district Dadu. It was announced on 13-12-2004 and notified by Board of Revenue on 14-12-2004 It consists of four Talukas Sehwan, Manjhand, Kotri and Thano Bola Khan. It is situated on the right bank of River Indus. The district has taken its name from its head quarter Jamshoro, famously known as Educational City.

Boundaries

District Boundaries on the Northern by Dadu district, on the East the River Indus separates it from Nawab Shah, Matyari and Hyderabad district, on the south Thatta district, south west Karachi district and on the west by Kheerthar Range make its boundary which separates Sindh and Lasbela district of Baluchistan.

Geographical Location

The total geographical area of the district is 11,517 square kilometers. It is about 220 kilo meters in length of North to South and about 100 kilo meters wide from East to West about 2 to 6 kilo meters wide belt of the Right bank of River Indus is cultivated and irrigated and the remaining land of the district is either hilly or cultivated rain and other sources of the irrigation. Agriculture is the main source of income of population. Thano Bola khan is famous for its Onion Mandi.

Climate

The climate of this district is pleasant. In summer, the northern part (Sehwan) is hotter than that of other parts of the district and normal cool in winter.

Jobs

The majority of population of District is rural and they are involved in cultivation. Industrial areas and Power plants are using manpower, while towns are providing business opportunities to the residents. The inhabitants of mountainous area keep cattle while Mallahs o Manchhar Lake earn their living by fishing. Approximately 20% of district population is serving in Federal and provincial Government.

Mining

The District is rich in source of Limestone, Salika Sand, Gravels, Silt, Marbal, Sui Gas. These minerals are found in Taluka Thano Bula Khan and Sehwan. The Coal is obtained from Lakhra Taluka Manjhand.

Industries

If we say this district, the District of Industrial Zone, it will not be wrong. Nooriabad Industrial Area and Kotri Industrial area are two big zones of Industries where more than 500 different industries are located and playing part in the development of the country.

Jamshoro Power Station, Lakhra Power Project and Kotri Thermal Power Station are main power units in this district.

Universities

Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and University of Sindh are the beauty of the Head Quarter city Jamshoro.

This District has been newly created and the business of district Offices is being done in available Government Buildings but Government Buildings are proposed to be constructed near by pass Jamshoro.
