17 Cobras seized, smuggler jailed for 1yr

Dhaka- A mobile court today seized 17 King Cobras in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka and sentenced one year’s imprisonment to a man for his attempt to smuggle those.

Smuggler Babul, 28 was also fined Tk 50,000, in default of which he will have to serve two months more in jail, said Major Nasiruddin Ahmed of Rapid Action Battalion-2.

On information, the mobile court led by an executive magistrate raided a house at Ghatirchar around 1:00pm and seized the Cobras, the Rab official said.

Babul collected the Cobras for smuggling the snake and its venom abroad, he added.
