LHC reserves verdict on supermodel Ayyan's bail plea
LAHORE / RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court (LHC) reserved on Monday its verdict on supermodel Ayyan’s bail plea.
The LHC is expected to announce its verdict regarding whether the supermodel’s bail plea will be accepted or not later today.
Defending his client, Ayyan’s lawyer, Sardar Latif Khosa told the LHC that she had bought some plots and had gone to Islamabad airport to give the money to her brother. Her brother was late and during that time she was arrested.
Further, Khosa upheld Ayyan did not have a boarding pass with her and without the pass there can be no money laundering case.
However, the government lawyer argued that the supermodel wanted to take the money to Dubai which is why she exchanged rupees into dollars.
Ayyan had filed a bail plea in the LHC against her detention by customs officials in the ongoing currency smuggling case in a Rawalpindi customs court.
Earlier today, a Rawalpindi customs court extended Ayyan’s judicial remand till July 6 and directed senior lawyers of the accused to attend the next hearing. The model has been sent on judicial remand at least thirteen times since she was first detained by customs officials.
Ayyan Ali was arrested from Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport on March 14 on charges of money laundering.
