Ayaz Sadiq to challenge NA-122 verdict in Supreme Court: lawyer
ISLAMABAD: Former National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is all set to plead his case in the Supreme Court against an election tribunal’s verdict on NA-122, and former additional attorney general Saeeduz Zafar will represent him, The Express Tribune has learnt.
Sadiq was unseated by an election tribunal of Punjab after it invalidated his election of NA-122 (Lahore-V) and ordered re-polling in the constituency.
Zafar while talking to The Express Tribune on Sunday confirmed the development, saying he will file an appeal against the verdict.
We have started drafting the appeal, and it may take up to two days to complete the formalities, the lawyer said.
According to sources, the former NA speaker also contacted Khawaja Haris to contest his case but he was out of the country.
Legal experts are of the opinion that similar to the case of Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, the top court may fix the case this week, and suspend the tribunal’s judgement.
