BCB security team likely to visit Pakistan for women’s tour

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) delegation may visit Pakistan next week to assess the security situation for a proposed series between the women's teams of both the countries later this year.

Talking to ESPNcricinfo, chief executive of the BCB Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, “Our security team will be going to Pakistan. We have informed our counterparts there, so it is in process. A date [of their departure] will be confirmed in a day or two. The tour could be in October.”

BCB president Nazmul Hassan last week termed the security inspection as the second step in the process. According to Hassan, a letter had been sent to the Bangladesh High Commission to get a briefing on the prevailing security situation in Pakistan.

“ [PCB] have sent us a proposal. Our women’s team is getting restless to play abroad. Pakistan has given us an offer, we are thinking about it,” he said.

“If everything is okay and the women's team agrees to go … There are a lot of factors left. It is still quite far away [from being finalised].”

A BCB security delegation had also visited Pakistan in March 2012 but no agreement was reached for a possible tour by the Bangladesh men's team.
